Fostering Inquiry and Critical Thinking Skills Among the Youth
We’re excited to be part of “Fact or Fiction?”, an international project that aims to equip young people with essential life skills like critical thinking, resilience, and digital awareness. In today’s world, where information is everywhere and not always reliable, learning how to think critically is more important than ever.
This project brings together partners from Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland, working together to support youth aged 12–19, teachers, and parents through innovative tools, educational scenarios, and active workshops.
Project Goals
- Help young people develop critical thinking, social awareness, and resilience
- Create educational tools for schools and youth settings
- Support teachers and parents with practical methods to guide youth
- Promote cross-country collaboration and share results widely in Europe
What We’re Doing
1. Consultations (Spring 2025)
We’ll run local workshops with youth (in three age groups: 12–14, 15–17, and 18–19) and interview teachers and parents to better understand their needs when it comes to digital literacy and critical thinking.
2. Pilot Workshops (Fall 2025)
Based on what we learn, we’ll organize youth workshops in schools and test short critical thinking exercises with local teachers, inspired by real-world issues like migration, sustainability, and misinformation.
3. Dissemination Events (Early 2026)
We’ll share project results through:
- A hybrid event for educators, parents, NGOs, and local decision-makers
- A university event for future teachers and social science students
- An international online event bringing together youth from all three countries
- A public report and set of tools for teachers and youth workers across Europe
Why It Matters
This project will help young people:
- Strengthen their ability to spot disinformation and build emotional resilience
- Improve teamwork, communication, and problem-solving
- Feel empowered to question, think, and engage with their communities
Educators will also benefit from:
- New ready-to-use teaching tools
- Cross-border collaboration with fellow professionals
- Practical methods to guide students in a digital and complex world
